Macaroni Pony

Posted by Kathleen at 10:28 PM
This cake was for my grandma's 75th birthday. When my cousins and I were little, she would always tell us "Macaroni Pony" stories that just magically had the right moral or lesson in it to make us stop fighting, or stop forcing my little cousin to eat soap. She also made a good many of our hallowe'en costumes from scratch and her bday is in October.

So this cake is a page from one of the stories I remember best - about poor Macaroni Pony feeling down because he didn't have a costume for the masquerade ball. Long story short - he gets himself an ice cream, trips and falls, and the ice cream lands on his head. Just when he's really starting to feel sorry for himself, his friends spot him and tell him they're jealous of his "unicorn" costume.

Brilliantly simple -- kids -- there's always a positive way of looking at a situation, so stop feeling sorry for yourselves.

Thanks grandma!
